Jard is from the Dutch province of Drenthe – her practical and hardworking approach to singing may originate from there. Winning an award at the IVC in 1978 gave her career a great boost. She is an artist with great sensitivity for text and poetry. Always eager to approach a piece from more than the musical angle alone. But with a great ear for (and knowledge of) technical details too.
